World Athletics recognised for fight against climate change

NAIROBI, Kenya, October 8 – Athletics Kenya president Jack Tuwei was on hand on Monday evening to receive the BBC Green Sports Award on behalf of World Athletics at the BBC headquarters in London.

The global athletics body was recognised as the Elite Organisation of the Year after launching its Athletics for a Better World (ABW) Standards, which outlines environmental, governance and social guidelines that host cities need to adhere to when hosting WA events.

The guidelines comprise 55 action areas including procurement, waste management, energy, food and water management, travel and accommodation planning.

Tuwei, also the WA vice-president, was accompanied by Jackie Brock-Doyle Director of Special Projects World Athletics and Bob Ramzak, Head of Sustainability, World Athletics.
