NAIROBI, Kenya, April 27, 2025 – Amos Kipruto led a 1-2-3 Kenyan finish at the Hamburg Marathon on Sunday.
Kipruto clocked 2:03:46 for the win, ahead of fellow countrymen, Philemon Kiplimo (2:04:01) and Erick Sang (2:04:30) who finished second and third respectively.
The win was a perfect way for Kipruto to atone for his narrow podium miss at the Guadalajara Half Marathon in Mexico in February this year.
On that occasion, the 2022 World marathon bronze medalist clocked 1:02:49 to finish fourth.
It was also a perfect comeback for the 2021 Olympics silver medalist Brigid Kosgei who finished second in the women’s race.
The former world record holder for the women’s marathon timed 2:18:26 as Ethiopia’s Workenesh Edesa won the race in 2:17:55.
Kumeshi Sichala, also of Ethiopia, finished third after clocking 2:19:53.
Kosgei was competing in her first race since dropping out of the women’s marathon team for the Paris Olympics due to injury.
