CARDIFF WORLD HALF TEAM

World half marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor and the World Half-Marathon record holder Florence Kiplagat will be leading Team Kenyan to the International Association of Athletics Federation World Championship next month.

 

Athletics Kenya has named the team that is going to represent the country during the biannual World Championships in Cardiff, United Kingdom on March 26th this year.

 

Defending champion Kamworor and Kiplagat are the principal inclusions in the 10-member squad that is expected to rock the world after dominating the 21kilometres for the umpteen times.

 

Teaming up with Kamworor is World Cross-country silver medalist Bedan Karoki, also the winner of Copenhagen half marathon in September, and New York marathon champion Stanley Biwott who forms a Kenyan formidable force to the competitions.

 

Another inclusion in the men’s line up is Jonathan Maiyo, ranked 20th in the All-Time marathon chart with 2:04.56 career best and 59:02 in half marathon.

 

In women, Kiplagat will lead the onslaught against opponents and will draw support from a team of classy anchoress with New York Marathon queen Mary Keitany and RAK Half Marathon winner Cynthia Limo playing pivotal role.

 

Berlin Marathon Champion Gladys Cherono and Aramco Houston half marathon victor Mary Wacera completes the ladies side as the attention is now fixed to the championship in March.
