Athletics Kenya has initiated a massive registration exercise of members that will begin at the grass root level starting from January 26 this year.

The exercise targets to recruit ordinary members from the 1,450 administrative Wards in the country in the 12 regional branches in accordance with the Sports Act of 2013.

Launching the exercise at Athletics Kenya headquarters at Riadha House on Thursday, the federation President Jackson Tuwei told all the stakeholders to go for the procedure from their County, Sub-county and Wards officials.

“The exercise is open to all Kenyan citizens above 18 years who have the interests of the sport. We are dispatching the registration forms and receipts books to the Regional Chairmen and we want interested parties to register until 28th of February this year,” said the President during a press briefing after meeting all the branch chairmen and the Members of the Executive.

According to the format and tabulation, ordinary members would be required to pay a registration fee of Ksh500 that will be distributed to the three levels of the Counties (40%), Regional/Affiliates (30%) and National office (30%) as the sport devolves to the Wards level.

“The registration is also an on-going exercise. The deadline of submission is only for the purposes of tabulation by the head office,” clarified the President.

The exercises will be done in all the 12 Regional branches and in the 4 affiliates of Universities, Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Police Service and Kenya Prisons.
